Covid Outbreak in Vietnam Hits Industry Suppliers
A wave of shutdowns is hitting Ho Chi Minh City and vicinity as Vietnam continues to grapple with an uptick in Covid-19 cases since April. The nation’s health ministry is allowing plants to remain open with workers sleeping on site or at nearby locations with direct transportation, requirements which some of the city’s largest employers cannot meet. Hong Kong-based Kingmaker Footwear issued a message to shareholders warning that its factory in Binh Duong Province, just north of Ho Chi Minh City, was shut down July 12.
