Compass Diversified is acquiring the maker of synthetic down insulation at a $530 million valuation, from its current owner, Victor Capital Partners, adding it to the other sporting goods brands—Boa, 5.11, Velocity Outdoor and Marucci—in CODI’s consumer brands portfolio. PrimaLoft supplies its eponymous insulation to over 950 partners, including Patagonia, Nike, Helly Hansen, Marmot, Moncler, and Canada Goose. Since its founding in 1983, PrimaLoft has expanded its product line with innovations like recycling PET plastic bottles, low-carbon P.U.R.E. manufacturing technology, and more recently, its ThermoPlume down-like product. The acquisition is expected to close in July.
