Chinese officials are saying they won’t discuss reforming their industrial policy and government subsidies that are considered critical to the U.S. objectives ahead of this week’s scheduled talks between the two sides, and with the U.S. continuing to maintain that it won’t consider a deal that isn’t comprehensive, the prospects for a resolution of the trade war this week appear slim. The U.S. said the talks will cover forced intellectual property transfer, intellectual property rights, services, non-tariff barriers, agriculture and enforcement.
