China Factories Restart Still Delayed by Epidemic


While the official extension of the Chinese New Year holiday was scheduled to end today, many factories remain closed with the coronavirus outbreak still not contained and workers hampered in getting back to their jobs. From bicycles to sneakers, indeed throughout the entire economy, the impact of the virus has reverberated throughout the region’s supply chain as businesses remain shuttered for lack of workers. At the epicenter of the outbreak in Hubei, 59 million people are quarantined. Many factories have extended the holiday themselves rather than restart with skeleton workforces.
