Caleres Acquires Controlling Interest in Blowfish Malibu
The CA athleisure brand had trailing 12-month revenues of $27 million. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed but it is expected to be accretive within one year. Likely, CAL sees this brand as potentially a good DTC opportunity as it has recently invested in its e-commerce capabilities. The brand has a relatively small footprint for a company that has been in business since 2005, and comments in the release suggested that its lack of scale, particularly in sourcing, were a major motivation in looking for a larger partner.
