Brooks Sports, which was wrangling with Brooks Brothers over its forays into athletic footwear before the venerable retailer’s bankruptcy filing, fired a preemptive shot at new owner SPARC Group over the Brooks brand. SPARC, a joint venture between Simon Property Group and Authentic Brands, purchases Brooks Brothers’ assets out of bankruptcy in Aug. and plans to continue operations as well as licensing the brand in other categories, according to the complaint, which was filed in Seattle, WA, federal court.
