The former Arizona assistant men’s basketball coach received a sentence of three months in prison and two years of probation after pleading guilty in January to federal bribery charges in the Hoopgate scandal. Prosecutors had asked for 18 to 24 months for Richardson. Former Southern California assistant Tony Bland was sentenced to just two years probation earlier this week, but U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos said that Richardson’s actions warranted jail time because he arranged the July meeting with FBI agents in Princeton, NJ, and kept bribe money for himself instead of just distributing it to players.
