Background Check Bills Head to Senate
After an earlier bill that would have outlawed or regulated out of existence most private gun ownership in the U.S. languishes in subcommittee, the House passed two much more limited gun purchase regulation bills and sent them to the Senate for consideration. The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, H.R. 8, requires that all firearm sales between private parties go through a licensed gun dealer, who will run a NICS FBI background check on the purchaser.
