Back-to-School Survey: Good News and Bad News
The good news is that families with K-12 students are expecting to spend a record $696.70 each against $684.79 last year and families with college students are expecting to spend $976.78 against $942.17 in 2018. The bad news is that there are fewer families with children in school overall, so total spending for K-12 students is expected to dip about 5% to $26.2 billion from $27.5 billion and college spending will decline overall to $54.5 billion from $55.3 billion.
