Back-to-School Spending Up Slightly for 2019
Consumers will spend a total of $519 per student this year compared to $510 in 2018, with clothing and accessories remaining the largest component of the budget at $15.0 billion out of the $27.8 billion in total spending, according to a survey conducted by Deloitte. Some 97% of all consumers expect to spend on apparel and accessories and 98% expect to spend on school supplies while 22% will spend on electronic gadgets and 20% expects to spend on computers and hardware.
