American Outdoor Brands’ Sales and Earnings Drop


Net income tumbled 53% to $3,766,000 in the fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 31 against $8,029,000 last year, on a 15% decline to $70,105,000 from record revenues of $82,649,000. The decrease in sales was driven entirely by the shooting sports segment, which was down 31%, consistent with the decline in NICS checks for the same period, with most of the falloff coming from wholesale. Outdoor lifestyle segment sales increased 7% in the quarter and accounted for over 52% of the top line, while shooting sports represented just over 47%.
